Atrocious customer service experience with Natasha. I had reserved two tickets for 12:45pm, but was informed that one of my tickets was actually for 10am. Both tickets were purchased together at 10:16am, so how could one be for 10am? Natasha proceeded to eject me from the bus and instructed me to join the non-reserved line, even though both tickets clearly showed a 12:45pm reservation. When I suggested it might be a system error on her part, she bluntly stated "no glitches have occurred this summer", implying it was my mistake despite the printed timestamps on my tickets. Dismissive, impolite, and truly appalling customer service from Natasha - thankfully, our bus driver was kind and pleasant.

This is the fourth time I've had this driver on the 8x route to Lake Louise. He calls himself "the grumpy bald guy," and he's not wrong. He seems to take pleasure in making passengers wait outside in -30 degree weather while he obsessively cleans the same spot on his bus seven times. Each of the four times I've encountered him, it's been the same story. He delays departure, leaving passengers shivering in the cold, consistently departing 5-10 minutes after the scheduled time. Why choose a profession in public transportation if you despise interacting with people? I'm concerned that his evident hostility towards passengers could escalate to something drastic, such as intentionally causing an accident. This driver should be subjected to a thorough audit.

I've been residing in Lake Louise for around 7 months or so. Since Banff is the only grocery store in the area, I have frequently taken the Roam bus Route 8x. Come rain, snow, or shine, Fumi, the bus driver, has consistently shown up. His cheerful demeanor never fails to brighten my day. He truly looks out for the passengers on board, ensuring everyone is content and well looked after. Whenever I hop on the bus, I can depend on his positivity to uplift my spirits. This delightful man truly deserves a raise.

I 'ave missed the bus twice 'cause the bloomin' driver showed up way too early, over 10 minutes b'fore the scheduled time. For instance, the first bus on route 2 was s'posed to get to Banff Park Museum at 6:22pm, but we saw it pass by the stop at 6:17pm. Seems like other passengers 'ad a similar tale to tell.

I had the most AMAZING time taking the bus from Banff to Canmore last Sunday! My friends and I rented bikes and rode to Banff, but by the time we arrived, our bottoms were sore and we didn't feel like biking back. Hernan, the driver, and two lovely ladies were incredibly kind and helpful. They assisted us in loading our bikes onto the rack, and even allowed me to bring my small dog on board in a grocery bag since he had a large battery. Their assistance was exceptional, and we are truly grateful for going the extra mile to help us board the bus.

I spent 6 nights in Banff at the end of January without a car. I was a bit worried about getting around during that time, but the Roam system was fantastic. Despite its limitations in winter, I could easily and affordably reach different hiking spots (like Johnston Canyon) in no time. While some folks griped about the app, I personally had no troubles and found it to be very effective.

I'm getting really frustrated with my experiences on Roam transit lately, especially during the winter months. This morning, I boarded the 6:50 am Route 1 bus from Rotary Park. When we reached Rabbit St. West and I pulled the cord to signal my stop, the driver just kept going. I had to run from Moose Street to make it to work on time. What's the point of taking the bus if I could have walked and gotten there faster? Furthermore, I've noticed that the buses are frequently running late and the time displays at the downtown bus stops are completely inaccurate. I'm feeling let down and increasingly disheartened by the service.

Recently took a jaunt to the majestic Canadian Rockies sans wheels and was thrilled to discover that ROAM transit was at my service between Banff and Lake Louise.

However, upon reaching Lake Louise, I quickly realized that their bus timetable left much to be desired, with an absurd 3-hour gap between buses shuttling passengers from Lake Louise Village to Lake Louise on the day of my visit (around 10am and then again around 1pm)! I get that post-Canadian Thanksgiving marks the end of the "tourist season," but folks are still flocking in and require transportation if they don't have their own vehicle. Faced with this dilemma, I opted to trek a trail to Lake Louise from the Village, eating up nearly 50 minutes one way, as the next bus wouldn't arrive for 3 hours. Even the tourism official expressed regret. A mere $2 ride spanning 7 minutes managed to evade upfront disclosure on the website, catching me off-guard without exact change. Cashless transactions on the bus aren't an option, as one must procure the Token Transit app. Thankfully, the driver permitted my boarding and instructed me to cough up $4 for the return trip, which I dutifully did.

The queuing system for the bus also raised eyebrows. Priority is granted to reservations first, followed by day pass holders, with walk-ons bringing up the rear. This setup severely hampers the spontaneity of tourists, jeopardizing their travel plans altogether!

ROAM's services in Banff were plagued by infrequency as well. On the morning of my intended journey, there were 3 buses plying between 9 and 10am, dwindling down to a solitary bus between 10 am and 11 am! How does one place their faith in such a transit network to reach their destination in a timely manner? Bus stops along the main road were peppered with waiting passengers, the digital board teasing them with elusive arrival times. I resorted to hoofing it everywhere.

Despite the allure of its affordability (a mere $10 for the trek between Lake Louise and Banff), securing a reservation is imperative if punctuality is your calling card. Opting for private shuttles balloons the cost to $37.

In these towns bereft of Uber, car ownership bestows a distinct advantage. However, for eco-conscious individuals craving freedom from the hassles of car rentals, parking fees, and navigation snafus, ROAM fell short of expectations and cries out for improvement.
