I recently embarked on a train journey with my companions, including my partner, to celebrate his birthday. We opted for the agrotour package, as we are all food enthusiasts and the promise of a culinary adventure excited us!
After perusing the Agrotours website, which boasts of offering an "epicurean experience," complete with tantalizing images of delectable dishes, I was eagerly anticipating a feast for the senses.
However, my expectations were sadly not met.
Our first stop was at the Charlevoix dairy, where a group of 16 of us were presented with a meager platter of 4 cheeses and a handful of crackers. Unsatisfied, we ended up buying additional cheeses and sausages from the shop.
At our next destination, the Migneron family estate, we were again met with disappointment. Sharing a small platter of 3 cheeses and a few crackers amongst 16 people, accompanied by tiny sips of strong whey alcohol and verbena, left us wanting more.
The final leg of our journey took us to the Pedneault cider house, where we were given minuscule tastings of cider in shot glasses. With barely 15ml allotted per tasting, the experience fell short of our expectations.
To cap it off, once the tour concluded, we sat down for a meal at the restaurant. For an excursion advertised as lasting "3 hours" from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (which did not align with the information on the website), we had hoped for more substantial portions than the paltry offerings of 3-4 small cheese pieces at each location, along with measly drops of alcohol.
Overall, the experience left much to be desired, especially considering the hefty price tag attached to it. In my opinion, this did not live up to the standard of an epicurean adventure.
