Baie-Saint-Paul Hospital: A Comprehensive Overview

Baie-Saint-Paul Hospital, located in the picturesque town of Baie-Saint-Paul, Quebec, serves as a vital healthcare facility for both locals and visitors. With a focus on accessibility, it aims to provide quality care while ensuring that all patients can comfortably access its services.

Accessibility Features

One of the notable features of Baie-Saint-Paul Hospital is its wheelchair-accessible entrance, which ensures that individuals with mobility challenges can gain easy access to the facility. The hospital also boasts a wheelchair-accessible car park, allowing for hassle-free parking. These features make it a welcoming place for everyone, reinforcing the hospital's commitment to accessibility.

Patient Experiences

The experiences of patients visiting Baie-Saint-Paul Hospital vary widely. Many commend the staff for their professionalism and friendliness. One visitor remarked, “I came to the urgent care following an accident...the doctors, nurses, and staff are all extremely professional and friendly.” Such positive feedback highlights the welcoming environment created by hospital personnel. However, not all experiences have been favorable. Some patients have reported long waiting times in the emergency department. One individual expressed dissatisfaction after waiting over seven hours, even when fewer patients were present. This has raised concerns about the hospital’s efficiency during peak times.

Quality of Care

Despite the mixed reviews regarding wait times, many patients praise the quality of care received. Comments such as “Quick and friendly service” and “Impeccable service, really clean and fast processing” reflect a predominantly positive sentiment towards the medical treatment offered. However, it’s important to note that some visitors faced challenges, particularly foreign nationals who experienced discrimination. One comment highlighted a refusal to treat a ski injury, underscoring potential barriers that may exist for non-local patients seeking immediate care.

Overall Impression

Baie-Saint-Paul Hospital stands out for its commitment to accessibility and patient care. The combination of a wheelchair-accessible entrance and car park makes it a viable option for those needing medical assistance. While many patients leave satisfied with their treatment, there remain areas for improvement, especially concerning wait times and the treatment of foreign nationals. In summary, Baie-Saint-Paul Hospital presents a mixed picture, balancing commendable service with significant challenges that need addressing to ensure every patient receives the care they deserve.

A person with cancer arriving by ambulance around 4.30am and only seeing a doctor for the first time at 9.30pm is just not right. Emergencies in Baie St Paul are uncommon, with days passing by without much activity at the hospital.
Harper Ortiz (2025-06-27, 9:39 a.m.):
Absolutely incredible experience! I had the misfortune of dislocating my shoulder, but within a mere 45 minutes, I found myself undergoing ten x-rays, consulting with the doctor, and leaving with my brace in hand. The team was exceedingly pleasant, and the entire process ran seamlessly.

First and foremost, I found myself extremely unwell while on the train from Charlevoix. In no time at all, the ambulance arrived swiftly within a mere 8 minutes to transport me to Baie St-Paul hospital. Upon my arrival, there was a brief 15-minute wait at the hospital entrance before I was promptly attended to by the efficient staff. I underwent a lung x-ray, received 2 serum bags for hydration, a COVID test (which thankfully came back negative), temperature checks, and blood tests. The nurses were not only kind but also highly efficient in their care. I experienced the same level of professionalism during my lung radiology appointment.

I am immensely grateful to Doctor Maude Perin, who diligently oversaw my treatment throughout my stay, as well as Doctor Chouinard, who checked in on me upon my discharge. A heartfelt thank you to all involved; I truly felt secure and well looked after during my time at the hospital.

EXCELLENT CARE
The staff was extremely attentive, attending to me promptly upon my arrival.
I was very well looked after.
Gratitude to the hospital team.
Brenda Cox (2025-06-21, 1:25 a.m.):
I was injured in an accident and received extremely poor treatment. I called for help due to severe pain, but the nurse informed me that they were overwhelmed with patients and suggested I figure things out on my own.

I am assisting my 96-year-old father with his medical needs. I must say that we provide exceptional care and our team is truly dedicated, polite, and welcoming.
Charlotte Barnes (2025-06-19, 4:30 a.m.):
I say, old chap, I must say I had quite the disheartening experience at the hospital recently. Jolly well turned away because of a positive result, can you believe it? Treated me like a bloomin' dog, they did! Refused to treat me and then had the audacity to escort me out in the pouring rain. Had to wait a good 20 minutes outside, soaking wet and all. Dash it all, even a dog wouldn't be treated in such a manner! When one follows health advice to seek help at the emergency room and they simply toss you out like a common trash bag, one can't help but feel a tad let down, wouldn't you agree?

URGENT!
I must convey my strong disappointment after my recent trip to the emergency department at Baie-Saint-Paul hospital on October 3. Having waited for over 7 hours, I regrettably did not receive medical attention (there were merely 5 patients in the emergency ward), which is highly unsatisfactory for a facility meant to deliver immediate care.
The prolonged wait without medical aid has significantly affected my health and highlights a grave malfunction. I had to urgently seek assistance from another physician who then prescribed me with treatment (Antibiotic, cortisone, and Ventolin).
Vincent Morris (2025-06-06, 12:09 a.m.):
Utilize your empathy within the fresh hospital
Matthew Foster (2025-06-04, 9:39 a.m.):
I absolutely adore this hospital, my mate actually works there! It's fresh, massive, and truly stunning. I’ve had my medical records moved there because I'm going to be receiving treatment at this new hospital. Additionally, they have an RDPQ available for a lass who requires it for her left foot orthosis. Massive thanks for all the outstanding service provided! Cheers mate!
Lauren White (2025-05-31, 12:53 a.m.):
We were properly greeted upon our arrival at the A&E this morning, and the team really smoothed out our visit. Much obliged!
Richard Jordan (2025-05-29, 3:56 p.m.):
The staff at this hospital were absolutely delightful - very accommodating, always smiling, and incredibly friendly. They truly went above and beyond to make sure I felt well taken care of.
Patricia Edwards (2025-05-28, 6:58 a.m.):

Andrew Sullivan (2025-05-26, 8:55 p.m.):
The eternal wait is just maddening.
Kelly Brooks (2025-05-25, 12:22 p.m.):
Polite service and attentive professionals. Many thanks to all the emergency team.
David Ross (2025-05-25, 6:47 a.m.):
A warm welcome and speedy support greeted me beyond my expectations. The doctors were all so kind and attentive, providing impeccable care. Another heartfelt thank you to all involved.
Ann Jordan (2025-05-12, 1:52 a.m.):
I went to the urgent care after a mishap to have my arm checked, and I was in and out of the hospital in under an hour. The doctors, nurses, and staff were all incredibly professional and accommodating.
Sharon Morris (2025-05-11, 8:48 p.m.):
Big thanks to Doctor Russell for spotting my painful knee tendinitis so quickly, with minimal waiting time, and for taking prompt action to address it.
Rebecca Miller (2025-05-07, 5:15 p.m.):
Emergency Baie-Saint-Paul - A Local Myth

There has been talk of a television report suggesting that the emergency department at the newly established hospital in Baie-St-Paul is not crowded, leading some to believe that individuals from Quebec could benefit from faster services due to challenges in securing doctor appointments in the region.

However, it is important to note that this information may not reflect the current situation accurately. Visitors from Quebec may not receive the warmest reception, and there could be subtle indications of their outsider status through certain remarks. Additionally, the wait times may be extensive and indefinite, as local residents are likely to be prioritized for services at the facility. Moreover, the performance level might not necessarily surpass that of hospitals in Quebec.

Therefore, it may be best for individuals from Quebec to reconsider traveling to Baie-St-Paul for medical care, as the experience might not meet their expectations.
Daisy Williams (2025-05-02, 3:40 a.m.):
I would highly recommend avoiding Malbaie if you are seeking better and faster service, especially for childbirth. It is best to opt for QC instead.
