Final Thoughts

My sister's doctor in Ottawa faxed over her prescription before we hit the road back home, thinking that would allow enough time to have it filled. Apparently not. We arrived six hours later only to be informed it wouldn't be ready for another 20 minutes. Returning after 20 minutes, it still wasn't prepared. One of the staff members even asked her colleagues, "don't people have anything better to do on a Saturday night?" Well, if I didn't urgently need to pick up painkillers for my sister who just had surgery, I certainly wouldn't be here. It seems like they haven't trained their employees in customer service or the importance of their wages. Save yourself the time and avoid this place.

I went in to get my mum's medications. The Pharmacist who is also the owner was extremely helpful. He took a lot of time explaining each medication and asked if my mum would manage taking the medication as prescribed. She was unsure, and he recommended and showed her a blister pack, which we both appreciated. My mum agreed she needed the extra support and he packed her medications while she waited. This was 30 minutes well spent at the pharmacy. And what's even better, there was no extra charge for the medication packaging. I'd give 6 stars if I could.

I am definitely not pleased with the pharmacy.
Brandon Roberts (2025-04-25, 6:19 p.m.):
Regrettably, this is one of the most disappointing places I've ever visited. They consistently provide misinformation about the availability of your medication, and upon arrival, you're left waiting for an hour. It seems that 90% of the time they don't have the medication in stock and need to place an order. Despite being aware that your prescription is valid for 6 months, you're still required to wait each month for them to order it, resulting in several days without medication. If you attempt to order it ahead of time to ensure timely availability, they claim it's too early.
The pharmacist, who is of Indian descent, behaves rudely and dishonestly. Each time he promises to call when the medication is ready, the call never materializes. I prefer to obtain my medication elsewhere and recommend that you do the same. I've grown weary of the disrespect and deception I've endured over the past two years.

Top-notch shop, spotlessly clean and well-arranged. Every member of the team I've interacted with has been amazingly friendly and helpful!
Ethan Ortiz (2025-04-22, 3:05 p.m.):
I was informed that my clearly labeled and vested service dog was not welcomed in the store. My dog did not cause any problems as he sat and stayed by my side while I was using the post office here.
I did not write this review and am unsure why it is showing up with my name.

ATTENTION PARENTS, PLEASE TAKE NOTE. With the emergence of nitrous gas, known as "magic gas" or "laughing gas," being used by teenagers at parties and clubs to achieve a high, Shopper's Drug Mart, with the assistance of Soda Stream, appears to be attempting to capitalize on this trend. There always seems to be a profit opportunity before government regulations intervene. As seen in the accompanying photos, they are promoting the sale of large nitrous oxide canisters rather than the actual beverage product itself. I do not recall them ever advertising the small cartridges previously, because why would they be of interest under normal circumstances? However, at that time, there was no widespread use of large tanks for recreational purposes by teenagers seeking a quick high. There are no warning labels or age verification checks in place to ensure that buyers are of legal age to purchase such items. I raised my concerns with a manager who appeared to be troubled by the situation and assured me that it would be addressed. Nevertheless, three weeks have passed, and there have been no signs or efforts to alert customers and parents to the potential risks. I am genuinely appalled. I have never felt more strongly that I am witnessing a company profit directly from endangering children, and there is little I can do to rectify the situation. Shame on you, Shopper's.

Abigail Baker (2025-04-17, 9:08 a.m.):
The pharmacy at Alliston Shoppers is quite dreadful. The individuals there are terribly impolite, particularly over the phone. I found myself without my medication and they refused to provide me with just 2 pills until Monday when my doctor would be available. This is an urgent situation and they showed no concern whatsoever. I always believed that pharmacists were meant to assist us with our health. Fortunately, the pharmacist at my doctor's office is going out of his way to travel from Barrie to open up his shop and provide me with my medication. I decided to stop using Shoppers because waiting two hours for them to simply count out 30 pills and put them in a bottle was just unacceptable. There wasn't a single person ahead of me, yet it was a two-hour wait. The individual (and I use that term loosely) I spoke with today goes by the name Connie, and she clearly needs to brush up on her people skills.

Appalling pharmacy, no consideration for their customers. Always out of stock of my prescription and I have to make multiple trips. Recently attempted to change to a reliable location closer to my home - especially since my car is in the garage. But they conveniently forget to mention they can't transfer any remaining balance... Resulting in me being left without my medication. Dealing with a severe medical problem now due to their incompetence.
Angela Wright (2025-04-13, 9:59 a.m.):
Fantastic, caring pharmacy and store staff who assisted me. Much gratitude!
Emily Jenkins (2025-04-12, 10:32 p.m.):
The first time I used this SDM was about 4 years ago. The staff at the post office counter were extremely rude and unkind, so I never used that service there again. Especially after hearing it still happens.
Just about a month ago, I brought my mother in to pick up her Rx and buy iron pills. The pharmacist actually checked the bottle and sold us EXPIRED medication! And I can guarantee she knew what she was doing.
Following all this, I recently found out that they do not sell ANY African hair products. This is Ontario, Canada, right? Well, needless to say, we are doing our research to find out why all this is even a thing.
Wish there was a 0 stars rating.

A chain pharmacy has been opened on the main road in this area.

Some of the ladies at the cash register could use an attitude adjustment, especially the older ones.
Donna Davis (2025-04-07, 3:03 p.m.):
Lovely clean and welcoming. Can't ask for much more.
Katherine Jones (2025-04-07, 11:58 a.m.):
I only pop in 'ere for mail pick up and drop off. I stopped buyin' bits 'ere coz the customer service is just awful.
When the queue gets long, ye'll see associates strollin' by like they ain't got a care in the world. There's no urgency at all. Then I start thinkin', where on earth is the manager? They oughta be sortin' this out...
I've even waited more than 15 minutes just to cash out. After 15 min, there's usually a line stretchin' halfway through the shop behind me. More than a few times, I've jolly well left me bits and shopped elsewhere. And on a couple o' them occasions I had a broken bone, with a cast on me foot =/
No one seems to give a toss at this place, so why should I splash me cash 'ere?

Huge thanks to the lovely ladies in the cosmetics department on the day shift of November 16th. I regret not catching your names, but I would have preferred to make this more personal. Not only did they assist me with my cosmetics shopping, they went above and beyond to ensure that I had the easiest and least physically demanding experience possible. I truly appreciated their thoughtfulness as they were aware that I was experiencing some discomfort. Thank you once again, Ladies!

I wanted to have some visa-related photos taken for my baby. I called in the morning to inquire if I could do a walk-in or needed an appointment. A lady on the phone kindly informed me that I could come between 4 PM and 8 PM for a walk-in appointment. When I arrived with my baby at the specified time, the person there rudely refused to even attempt taking the photos, claiming we had received incorrect information. Despite our multiple requests, all we received was a blunt refusal.
