It's a real shame to have insurance through Unique Insurance, it's almost better not to have any at all. We'll definitely be switching insurance companies as soon as possible. I live out in the countryside!

Our sump pump couldn't keep up with the water, especially since our neighbour's house is higher up than ours, and there's an asphalt driveway that makes things even trickier. Our French drain was overwhelmed by the rising water table for both houses, something that's never happened in the 25 years we've lived here! The inspector couldn't be bothered to come out and assess the damage, and there's a $500 deductible on our policy...

They told us we weren't covered for flooding, even though our insurance clearly states we're covered for ground floor flooding. But apparently that only applies if a pipe bursts. Now we can't even heat our basement because the water damaged the electric boiler. We've lost everything down there - all our belongings and memories are gone! We had to pay for a crew to quickly remove the walls and heavy furniture to prevent mold from spreading, and there was so much water left behind that the humidity shot up to 92%. We had no choice but to tear it all out to save the rest of the house.

It's frustrating not to get immediate help after a disaster like this! We've just had to deal with the loss of our entire basement due to flooding. Don't ever consider doing business with them!
